India is one of the largest democracies in the world. It is a wonder that people of so many different faiths, casts and creed live in this country. But of late we frequently come across disturbances through religious and sectoral intolerance as witnessed in Punjab recently. This is perhaps because of too much politics. We can boast of a Parliament which has good percentage of MPs with criminal background irrespective of the parties they belong to.In this regard we have great uniformity and unity. The state assemblies also have the similar pattern.
A democracy which is lead by a body infested with representatives of the people with criminal background cannot contribute to the peace of the nation. The government can neither control crime nor terrorism. Here democracy means free to do any criminal activity and get away with it. It is unfortunate that crime and corruption are perpetuated by people who are vested with the responsibility to rule.
Courts are silent spectators to the atrocities because of political interference. Corruption is another factor which has reduced our democracy to farse.
The youth should put an end to all these miseries by realising these dangers and guide this nation to the path of material and mental progress.
